ABOUT US

Hello!
We are a family owned and operated construction company in Columbus, Indiana with 40 plus years of experience in building, constructing, excavating, and creating. John and Shelby have extensive knowledge in the construction world and strive to bring that knowledge as well as hard work and quality craftsmanship to each project. Brittany works in the office taking care of the paperwork side of things, helping clients with design, and keeping the guys in line!

John and Sharon have been married almost 50 years and have lived in Columbus most of their lives. Prior to living in Columbus, they lived in Ohio where John was a farmer. After moving to Columbus and giving up farming, John got involved in the construction world and has been there since. He can build you a house, no problem, but he is also a wonderful wood worker much like his own father and has been known to create custom pieces for clients. John prides himself in his ability to provide quality craftsmanship, a hard days work, and instilling his knowledge, skills, and work ethic in his grandkids.
Shelby was born in Ohio but grew up mainly in Indiana. From early on Shelby took after his dad and jumped right in to the construction world. He has learned a lot from his dad but has also been able to learn a lot on his own. He has 3 boys, Ayden, Brody, and Lyam who keep him extremely busy with all their sports and activities when he is not working.
Brittany was born in Indiana and grew up here. She met her husband Justin in high school and they have been married 16 years. They have 2 children, Ryker and Marli, who also keep them very busy with all their activities. Brittany doesn't have quite the knack for construction that John and Shelby do but is very creative and enjoys the design aspect of construction.
The 2 oldest kids (grandkids), Ryker and Ayden, have recently started working for Custom Build during their school breaks and when they don't have practice or a game to be at. Grampy has enjoyed being able to teach them "the right way to do things" and instill in them the value of a hard day's work.

On any given Sunday evening, you can find us at John and Sharon's or better known as Grampy and Grammie's house having a family dinner and more than likely sneaking in a quick meeting to get ready for another week of work!
